One little foot. One very Australian story.
If you’ve spotted something a little different about our newest Rugaroo dolls, you’ve got a good eye.

There’s a small but rather special detail making its way into the Rugaroo Wilds. From now on, every new Rugaroo character will have one ochre-coloured right foot.
Just one. And there’s a reason for that.
Our signature detail
A little footprint of Australia
Our Black Swan Series is the first to carry the signature Rugaroo ochre right foot, a nod to the rich red earth of Australia and the place our characters call home. Lacey, Wattle and Maali are leading the way, and every little mate from here on will follow in their footsteps.
A little piece of home
When we first created Rugaroo, we wanted to build something that felt unmistakably Australian. Not just because our characters are kangaroos, koalas, wombats, echidnas and black swans, but because of the stories they tell, the places they visit and the wonderfully familiar personalities they bring to life.
From the red dirt roads of the Kimberley to the beaches of Byron Bay, Australia has always been at the heart of our little world.
And if there’s one colour that reminds us of this country, it’s ochre.
That beautiful, earthy colour of the Australian landscape. The dusty tracks, the warm outback soil and the red earth that somehow finds its way onto everything, including your shoes. Ochre is also woven deep into this land’s story, used by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for tens of thousands of years, and we hold that history with great respect.
We wanted to carry a little of that feeling into every Rugaroo doll.
So we gave them one ochre foot.
Why the right foot?
We loved the idea of creating a tiny signature that would belong to every character, no matter how different their personalities, outfits or adventures might be.
Something subtle. Something recognisable. Something that quietly says, I’m from Australia.
And rather than changing both feet, we chose just the right one. Because every good adventure starts on the right foot.
It’s our own little Rugaroo signature, a reminder that wherever our characters travel, they’ll always carry a piece of home with them.
Three little swans leading the way
Our Black Swan Series is the first to introduce this new detail, with three very different personalities proudly sporting their ochre right feet.
Maali, the SOH Ballerina, brings a little Sydney elegance to the Rugaroo Wilds.
Wattle, the Bush Florist, has a love for Australian flowers and all things beautiful.
And Lacey, the Prima Donna, our newest Melbourne theatre darling, believes every entrance deserves a standing ovation.
Three little black swans, three completely different stories, and one tiny detail connecting them. Although Lacey and Maali would both like it noted that they wore it first.
A signature for every little mate
As our Rugaroo family continues to grow, you’ll begin noticing that familiar ochre foot on all our new characters. The kangaroos, koalas, wombats, platypuses, echidnas and every other little mate who joins the Rugaroo Wilds.
Our earlier dolls will always be part of our story, but this little change marks a new chapter in the Rugaroo journey.
It’s also something we hope children will come to recognise. A tiny detail they can look for, a little discovery that connects their favourite characters, and perhaps even a conversation about the beautiful country that inspired them.
Tiny toys. Big stories. One little footprint.
Rugaroo has always been about more than miniature Australian animal dolls. It’s about imagination, childhood adventures, familiar Australian characters and creating little keepsakes that can be loved for years to come.
Our new ochre foot might be small, but to us, it means quite a lot.
Because no matter where in the world our little mates end up, they’ll always have one foot firmly planted in Australia.
And that’s exactly where their story began.
