When creating Rugabub Play Mats, our primary goal was to offer a secure and non-toxic play mats, completely free from harmful substances. Our luxe foam padded baby play mats are crafted from TPU and proudly hold certification for being non-toxic.
Rugabub Play Mats not only meet but exceed Australian safety standards and successfully comply with European EN71-3 Toy Standards, ensuring the utmost quality and safety. As parents, our commitment to providing the best for our children and the environment led us to choose TPU (polyurethane) over the subpar PVC (poly-vinyl chloride). This decision was driven by our desire to leave a healthier world for future generations.
TPU, developed as a safer alternative to PVC, eliminates hazardous chemicals such as lead, mercury, formamide, cadmium, PBP’s, and PBDE’s. Unlike PVC, which contains harmful additives like phthalates, lead, cadmium, and organotins, TPU proves to be a non-toxic and safe material suitable for various applications, including biomedical uses.
Our play mats, devoid of plasticizers or chemical/color stabilizers, not only ensure the safety of our little ones but also contribute positively to the environment. Additionally, the use of PU allows for the creation of durable mats that can withstand years of use. While these play mats do require special care, you can find detailed instructions in each product description or FAQ section.
Once TPU Polyurethane is composted, it undergoes biodegradation within 3 to 5 years.
TPU was specifically developed as a safer substitute for PVC. Unlike PVC, which contains hazardous chemical additives such as phthalates, lead, cadmium, and organotins, posing potential health risks to you and your child, TPU is non-toxic and deemed safe for various applications, including biomedical uses. Our luxe foam padded baby play mats, crafted without plasticisers or chemical/color stabilisers, ensure the safety of both our little ones and the environment. Notably, TPU's biodegradable nature makes it a planet-friendly choice.
While our play mats require special care, detailed instructions can be found in each product description or FAQ section.
Rugabub extends delivery services to the majority of Australia and New Zealand. Additionally, we have initiated regular shipments to Singapore, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Taiwan.
The shipping cost starts at approximately $15.49 (and are quoted to you directly from the courier) for the Sydney Metro Area and is quoted at checkout for regional/interstate areas. If you encounter multiple rates and are uncertain about your district, kindly contact us before making a purchase. New Zealand features a flat-rate shipping fee of $38.
Please be aware that customers are responsible for checking the tracking link sent via email regularly. In the event of the parcel being Returned To Sender, the customer will incur all shipping fees.
Rugabub has dedicated considerable time to finding the right shipping provider, understanding the challenges of shipping large and bulky items, categorised as oversized. Our goal is to offer affordable and swift shipping based on your delivery location, and we have subsidized a significant portion of the shipping costs.
Recent increases in shipping rates by 7.8%, along with additional charges such as an extraordinary fuel surcharge and a $15 length surcharge per box, have compelled us to address the situation. Despite these challenges, we have refrained from raising our play mat prices for over three years, aiming to maintain affordability for parents.
While our couriers cover most Australian homes, certain regional/remote areas may not be within our couriers' network. If your zone is not covered, our website will notify you upon entering your address. For areas without shipping availability, please contact us at hello@rugabub.com.au, and we can explore alternative shipping providers, providing you with their quote.
Unless specified otherwise with a "no signature required" comment, a signature will be necessary upon delivery. In specific rural regions, residents might need to collect parcels from a designated collection point as doorstep delivery may not be available.
Due to COVID-19 safety measures, deliveries are currently contactless. If you're not at home, our courier partners will find a secure location to leave your play mat or return it to the depot.
We do not deliver to Post Office Boxes or Private Bags due to the size of our parcels.
Typically, delivery times range from 4-7 business days from the time of purchase for most Australian locations. Please allow an additional 2 business days for order processing. Longer postage times of 8-14 business days apply to Regional, Rural Areas, Northern Territory, Western Australia, and New Zealand. Keep in mind that delivery times may vary during long weekends, public holidays, promotional/sales events, and natural disasters such as fires, floods, and pandemics.
Responding to high demand, we have expanded our shipping destinations to include New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Taiwan, ensuring daily dispatch for prompt delivery.
It's important to be aware that shipping costs can be significant, given the nature of our large and bulky items categorized as "oversized," akin to shipping a substantial piece of furniture.
Despite the nature of the items, we strive to offer the most economical rates available. Here are the flat-rate shipping fees:
- New Zealand: $38
- Singapore: $90
- United Kingdom: $95
- United States: $147
- Taiwan: $124
If you're uncertain about shipping to your country or wish to inquire about costs, please reach out to us at hello@rugabub.com.au. We have successfully shipped Play Mats to the US, Europe, and Singapore. However, it's worth noting that due to the parcel's size, costs may be relatively higher. Rest assured, we are diligently working to identify the most affordable and efficient shipping solutions for you.

To underscore our commitment to quality, Rugabub Play Mats are backed by a 6-month warranty. It's essential to note that the warranty does not cover damage resulting from incorrect use (please refer to our Play Mat Care Guide for detailed instructions) or general wear and tear.
Please be aware that some of our lighter-coloured play mats may exhibit a slight yellow/beige tint around the edges due to the heat-sealing process. This is a normal occurrence and not a defect.
Rugabub Luxe Foam Padded Baby Play Mats are intentionally designed to exude style and chicness, featuring a faded or distressed effect that mimics the appearance of rugs. Variations in colors within each repeat are a result of manual printing, not digital printing, and should be considered part of the design.
In our dedication to safety and environmental responsibility, Rugabub Play Mats are crafted from eco-friendly and biodegradable materials that naturally break down over time. We have consciously eliminated harsh and toxic preserving chemicals, such as PVC, from our play mats. While slight yellow/beige discoloration may occur over time, particularly around the outer edges, it is a natural result of the biodegradable materials.
To extend the lifespan of your play mat, we strongly recommend reviewing and adhering to our Play Mat Care Guide. Our commitment to our own children's well-being and the planet is the driving force behind our highly sustainable products, and we want our customers to be informed about this commitment before purchasing any of our play mats.
It's important to note that the warranty becomes invalid if faults arise from improper use of the play mat or a failure to follow the cleaning and care instructions outlined in our Play Mat Care Guide. For detailed care instructions, please click here to read The Play Mat Care Guide.

Our luxe foam padded baby play mats are made out of premium quality memory foam. As such, after unboxing your Rugabub play mat, it may need some time to relax, settle, and adjust to its designed form. We recommend unboxing and allowing the mat to settle as soon as you receive it, as leaving it rolled in the box for too long may cause it to retain its rolled shape for longer due to the premium memory foam material. You can speed up the settling process by rolling the play mat in the opposite direction, re-strapping, and placing it back into the box for a night or two.
Rugabub play mats come with 2 velcro straps. Ensure you hold on to them as they are so convenient for moving, storing or transporting.
Wipe clean with a soapy cloth or mild detergent.
Avoid the use of harsh detergents, oils (such as citrus, eucalyptus and essential oils), alcohol, bleach or grainy cleaners (such as Jif or Gumption) as they may discolour, fade or cause damage to the top coating. Some other natural spray agents can damage your play mat too.
We suggest cleaning the play mat with a mild detergent that is not alcoholic or acidic (including wet wipes).
All spills must be wiped clean immediately including poop, vomit & urine as they may cause stains and even fade due to the acidity.
Overtime, you may notice minor discolouring of the play mats. Sunlight, improper cleaning and exposure to high temperatures are the main causes.
Our play mats are intended to be used on a smooth surface. Sharp objects may puncture, tear or graze the outer layer.
Heavy objects are not to be placed on the play mat for long periods of time, as they will cause irreparable damage.
Pens, crayons, permanent markers, paints and textas can easily permanently mark the play mat and need to be avoided.
Avoid hot properties such as heaters, fire-places, hot liquid etc…
Our play mats are intended for indoor use, however, should all precautions be met, and for short periods of time, they can also be enjoyed outdoors. Please make sure you choose a shaded and protected spot with a smooth surface.
We love all furry friends big and small, however pets can cause damage with sharp claws and teeth.
Avoid steam cleaning.
Avoid vacuuming.
Our play mats are made without any toxic plasticisers and chemical/colour stabilisers. The heat-sealing process may cause a slight discolouring of the outer edges of the play mat. This is not a fault but a feature of the premium quality and material that we use.
Warranty is invalid if the faults are caused by improper use of the play mats or failure to respect the cleaning and care instructions.
Please let dry after wiping clean, as this can cause a slip hazard.
Please allow the play mat to flatten as suggested above to avoid a trip hazard.
