The material that doesn’t lie.
TPU, thermoplastic polyurethane, is the same material used in medical devices. It does not require carcinogens to be soft. It does not off-gas. It does not have a chemical smell when it arrives.
Every Rugabub play mat is independently tested to exceed toy safety regulations. When parents ask us what our mats are made from, we tell them exactly, because we have nothing to hide.
Why not EVA foam?
EVA foam uses formamide to create softness, a reproductive toxin banned in play mats across France and Belgium since 2010. We never used it. Rugabub mats are formamide-free, phthalate-free, and BPA-free. That is not a marketing claim. It is the result of choosing a harder-to-manufacture, more expensive material from the beginning.
